Welcome!
Illinois Women March on Springfield brings women and their allies together in Springfield on April 25, 2017. Join us!
The march is in the spirit of the Jan. 21 women’s marches around the world, and just as those events attracted a wide diversity of people, the Springfield event is expected to bring together people across a range of inter-connected issues.
April 25, 2017 is planned as a day for advocacy, lobbying and a large rally in support of issues that support a progressive agenda. We are focused on advocating for specific legislation under consideration in the Spring 2017 Illinois legislative session.
The progressive agenda includes a focus on the Women’s Agenda, the Labor Agenda, passing a responsible budget in Illinois, plus issues including immigration, homelessness, criminal legal reform, the environment, LGBTQ, gun safety, healthcare and disability rights, economics, education, animal rights and more.
This march is being co-chaired by:
- Tracy Baim of Windy City Times and Pride Action Tank
- Jaquie Algee of SEIU-Healthcare and Women’s March on Chicago
- Jennifer Camille Lee of Springfield’s Action Illinois and Women Rising-Illinois
- Jessica Scheller of Women’s March on Chicago
The organizing team also includes Claire Shingler (outreach), Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth (transportation), Alison Stanton (website), Tod Tatsui (logo design).
